I would like to personally invite you to join us for this year’s 2010 event that has quickly
become very dear to my heart!  My ultimate hope has come true and this has become an
annual occasion now in its third year, and it is where families and man’s best friend can come
to enjoy while also assisting a worthwhile organization, The American Red Cross!  We
christened this event Yorkie*Fair, briefly described as “A gathering of Yorkies, Friends and
Wannabes” where all who visit will find fun, games and great nourishment (including the
mental kind)!
I adopted my first Yorkie 9 years ago.  She was a tiny little girl who I named Zoe’ Mae.
She was 8 weeks old and weighted less than 1 pound.  Her litter brother, Buster Baxter
followed 1 week later.  Our family fell in love with them immediately and I was immediately
convinced that 2 Yorkies were double the joy! Theodore Bearington, “Teddy Bear” joined our
pack 1 year later.  Zoe’, Buster and Teddy are very important family members now and part of
our family outings as often as possible.  Our family enjoys triple the amusement with this gang
too! Since we want to play together as often as possible, we find ourselves constantly seeking
“Pet Friendly” activities that all of us can enjoy.
In past years we attended several festivals for canine lovers but none were local.
Ultimately we wanted to coordinate something local (within Miami and Shelby Counties and
now nationwide) where families could bring their furry friends to spend a day, show off a little
and have fun while teaming up with the American Red Cross (who, by the way, teach First Aid
and CPR for dogs and provide assistance for animals of all types during troubled times such
as house fires and weather related disasters). Yorkie*Fair was born.
We have all seen the media coverage of the home fires locally on the news and the
devastation in Haiti from the earthquake and watched as families suffered tragic losses of
homes, belongings and worse yet, human life.  The American Red Cross has been there to
provide for those who are our neighbors along with their beloved furry friends.  Food, clothing
and shelter are all made possible by the hard work of the Red Cross volunteers and donations
from the local communities.  That really adds up when you think about it.  We feel very
strongly that it is “Our Turn” to assist the Red Cross so they may continue to provide for those
families future who suffer catastrophic losses.  We can make a big difference for those who
live in Miami and Shelby counties and even other countries and give our furry friends a day to
shine and have fun through the proceeds raised by Yorkie*Fair!  Can we count on your help?
Please join us by supporting Yorkie*Fair on October 9, 2010 at the Miami County Fair
Grounds, Troy, Ohio.  Expect to have a good time, meet new friends and see the world
through the eyes of our furry friends. Zoe’, Buster and Teddy will be there to support the
American Red Cross of the Northern Miami Valley and they hope to see you there too!  Make
sure you stop us and say HI!
